‘Mentally unstable’ soldier on the run after murder

RUNDU – The Namibian Police is looking for a soldier from the Namibian Defense Force (NDF), suspected to have killed his niece at Mbambi village in Mukwe constituency, Kavango East.

A case of murder has been registered against the suspect, who is said to be mentally unstable. 

The murder case is read with domestic violence. 

ccording to the police, it is alleged that the incident occurred on Wednesday at around 20h00 at Mbambi village. 

It was further alleged that the victim, Kapango Mayira (22), was in her room, listening to music using headsets when the suspect entered the house.

 He hit her on the forehead with an unknown object, leaving her with an open wound. 

“The deceased was heard by other housemates when she screamed once. They went to see what had happened, and found her in a pool of blood. The suspect fled the scene,’’ said the Kavango East crime investigations coordinator Bonifatius Kanyetu.

“The motives behind this incident are still unknown, and the suspect is still on the run,’’ he noted.
