Archers selected for South African tournament

A total of nine archers have been selected to represent Namibia at the upcoming Southern African Regional Championships and World Game Trials.

The event is set to take place from 4 to 6 April at Marks Park Sports Club in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This selection follows the national trials held earlier this month in Swakopmund, where archers showcased their skills in a Double World Archery (WA) 720 round, a World Archery (WA) Indoor round and elimination rounds.

One of the standout moments from the trials was the qualification of Jannie Meuwesen, Babette Taljaard and Jacqueline Coetzee, who met the national qualifying scores, earning national colours and securing their spots on the team.

Speaking on her selection, top archer Coetzee expressed excitement, calling it a major milestone in her career.

“We shot a double 720, meaning we had to shoot two rounds of 72 arrows. This tested our endurance, and prepared us for the tough competition ahead in South Africa,” she said.
