Nandi-Ndaitwah to visit Angola

Nandi-Ndaitwah to visit Angola

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will undertake her first working visit to Angola today. The visit ends tomorrow, presidential spokesperson Alfredo Hengari confirmed.

It marks Nandi-Ndaitwah’s first officiate engagement outside Namibia.

The visit will be her first to her Angolan counterpart João Lourenço since assuming office on 21 March 2025.

It aims to reinforce the historic and strategic ties between Namibia and Angola. Hengari highlighted the significance of the trip, stating that it underscores “the long-standing bonds of friendship, solidarity and cooperation that exist between Namibia and Angola, rooted in our shared history, regional unity and mutual socio-economic interests”.

He added that the meeting between the two Heads of State presents an important opportunity to deepen bilateral relations, and fast-track key areas of cooperation.

“The two leaders are expected to discuss progress in strategic sectors such as agriculture, trade and oil and gas,” he said.

Namibia and Angola have maintained a close relationship since Namibia’s liberation struggle, with both countries continuing to collaborate on issues of mutual importance in the Southern African region.
