Nearly 1 800 cadets to graduate

OSHAKATI – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) is set to host its Police Basic Training Intake 1/2024-2025 graduation ceremony at the Oshakati Stadium this Friday.

The event, which will see nearly 1 800 cadet constables join the force, will be officiated by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, NamPol spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi told Nampa yesterday.

She invited the public to witness the street processions leading up to the graduation, which will take place at Ondangwa, Ongwediva and Oshakati.
The Ondangwa procession is scheduled for Tuesday at 08h00, starting at the Total Service Station (Oluno) and ending at the Nored office.

On Wednesday, the Ongwediva procession will go from the Ongwediva Trade Fair (Etuna Hotel) to Ompundja Road.

The Oshakati procession will follow the same day from Ompundja Road to Oshakati Stadium.
“This year’s graduation marks a substantial growth in the Force, with nearly 1 800 cadet constables set to take their oath as fully-fledged members of the Namibian Police Force,” Shikwambi said.

She added that the cadets successfully completed their nine-month training at the Pius Joseph Kaundu, Ruben ‘Danger’ Ashipala and Simon Mutumba Mutumba Police Training Centres.

“We look forward to the public presence at this important event to witness how their children are transformed from being civilians to officers of the law,” she added.
Last year, Shikwambi said the same venue hosted the graduation of 1 060 cadet constables, an event led by former president Nangolo Mbumba.

She indicated that these graduates have since been successfully deployed, and are serving communities across various regions.
The theme for this year’s graduation is ‘Together We Stand: Empowered for a Safer Namibia,’ which will serve as a guiding principle for the new officers as they embark on their careers.
