Veteran newspaper editor and media personality Asser Ntinda has been appointed special advisor to Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare.

Ngurare confirmed the appointment last Thursday, effective from 1 July 2025.

Ntinda is a former editor-in-chief of Namibia Today and has held various roles in the media industry, including acting editor of television news at the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).

From 1999 to 2015, he served as editor of Swapo’s official publication, where he was a vocal advocate for the party and played an influential role in shaping its political discourse.

Beyond journalism, Ntinda has also served on the board of the Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC).

Following a period of relative public silence amid controversy, Ntinda now returns to the forefront in an advisory capacity to the PM.

In his new role, he is expected to offer expert advice and support on matters assigned by the PM. His responsibilities will include policy formulation, research, strategic planning, and assistance with the prime minister’s public engagements and communications.

He will also be responsible for analysing information, draughting documents such as Cabinet memoranda, and providing feedback to a range of stakeholders.
