KEETMANSHOOP – To improve pedestrian access to places, the Municipality of Keetmanshoop last weekend officially opened two upgraded streets in the Westdene and Krönlein suburbs.
In her speech, mayor Annelize Knaus described it as a clear sign of progress, resilience and shared responsibility.
“They further connect residents of the town to opportunities, schools, clinics, shops, and places of work,” the town’s first citizen explained. Knaus continued, “When such roads are upgraded, the quality of life for all who will use them is equally uplifted.”
The politician also said the council are especially proud of the two projects, not only because of their importance but also because of the challenges that they endured and overcame during the construction phase of them. “From logistical hurdles to unseen delays, it was not an easy road, yet here we are with work completed safely and to the expected standards,” she said.
The mayor then extended her gratitude on behalf of the council to the contractors and consulting engineers for making sure that the projects had been completed successfully.
“Allow me also to recognise you, our citizens of Keetmanshoop and in particular those staying in the vicinity of the two streets, for your patience and cooperation during this process. Also, bear in mind that these roads are yours; take pride in and good care of them,” she concluded.
