MTC reports half-year performance, revenue up 15.8%

Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has recorded a 15.8% year-on-year revenue increase from N$1.57 billion to N$1.82 billion for the six months ending 31 March 2025. The strong performance was credited to continued subscriber growth, enhanced product offerings, and solid momentum across the company’s diversified portfolio.

In a statement released by the company, MTC highlighted that the results reflect the successful execution of its strategic priorities, including expanding mobile penetration, scaling its digital services ecosystem, and deepening enterprise partnerships.

“The company’s core prepaid segment remained a key growth driver, with revenue climbing 18% over the period. This was underpinned by improved average revenue per user (ARPU), wider adoption of the flagship Aweh product suite, and enhanced bundle offerings. Impressively, MTC has already achieved over 57% of its full-year prepaid revenue target within the first six months, positioning the segment to outperform historical benchmarks if current trends continue,” it said.

Postpaid revenue remained steady, recording a marginal 0.3% year-on-year increase. However, monthly subscription income saw a 4% uptick, indicating stable demand in the contract customer base.

The company’s Enterprise Business Unit (EBU) delivered standout performance, with a 40.1% surge in revenue and a 51% increase in spectra connections. This growth reflects the rising demand for tailored digital solutions and connectivity services among business clients.

Device and accessories sales also contributed to the strong performance, growing by 23%. The uptick was attributed to heightened consumer demand for handset upgrades and device financing solutions. Additionally, visitor roaming revenue climbed 26%, supported by a recovery in the tourism sector and expanded international roaming agreements.

“Our focus for the second half of FY2025 is to drive the increase of prepaid revenue, accelerate broadband uptake, and expand enterprise contracts and monetise digital platforms. Mobile business remains strong, with targeted campaigns planned to maximize recharges and data consumption and the simplification of product offers.

Broadband efforts will intensify with expanded fibre rollout and improved installation capacity, while the Enterprise Business Unit will target high value verticals and cross-border opportunities,” said the telecommunication giant.

They further said, channel efficiency, customer retention, and digital engagement remain critical enablers as MTC sustains growth momentum through year-end. Overall, the MTC delivered a strong financial performance in the 1st half of the financial year, supported by revenue growth and improved operational efficiencies.
