Deseree !Ganes, better known as Desire, a multi-talented Namibian filmmaker, songwriter and independent musician, is back in the spotlight with her heartfelt new single ‘I Choose You’. Born in Windhoek and raised in the Otjozondjupa region (Okatupapa), Desire draws inspiration from raw emotion and personal experiences, blending genres like R&B, Afro pop, Afro rap, amapiano and recently, Damara R&B.
After taking a break from music to focus on work and studies, Desire explained how she tried to find a way to juggle both roles. “Tackling school and work at the same time left me with little to no studio time. Now that college is out of the way, I want to fully dedicate myself to showcasing my talent and creativity.”
Her music journey began with dreams of rap inspired by Lady Du, but she has since embraced a melodic sound. ‘I Choose You’ explores love, self-discovery and the power of letting go. In 2019, she made her debut on the NAMA stage, where she performed her hit single ‘Today’, which features Goodsoul and was also nominated for the Best House Music category.
She released her new single ‘I Choose You’ on the 23rd of July on YouTube, where it has received a total of 963 views. Fans can expect a heartfelt story brought to life through Desire’s unique and creative work.
The singer continues to write and direct her own work, with a mission to inspire through authenticity.
She has worked on singles such as ‘Madjozi’, which she dropped in 2021 and an album titled ‘Tina’, which was dedicated to her mom, who passed on shortly after the album was released.
