The Brave Warriors World Cup campaign initiative is pulling out all the stops ahead of Namibia’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Malawi in Francistown, Botswana.

Campaign chairperson Tim Ekandjo at a press conference yesterday announced that there will be a final send-off event, a football spectacle at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium on 31 August.

The main match will see African Stars take on Chula Chula.

Proceeds will be channelled directly towards funding the Brave Warriors’ World Cup campaign.

“This event is about rallying the nation behind our team, ensuring they head into this qualifier with both the financial and moral support they deserve,” Ekandjo said.

He added that the match is expected to cost around N$800 000 to stage.

He urged Namibians from all walks of life, including corporate sponsors and government, to come out in full force to support the team.

Adding to the excitement, the day will kick off with a celebrity curtain-raiser match, featuring prominent figures from sport, politics, business, entertainment and civil society.

Ekandjo said the match is more than just football, but a national show of unity and pride. “This is the final push before our Brave Warriors depart for Francistown. Let’s send them off knowing that the whole country is behind them,” he said.

Tickets will be available at designated outlets for N$50, with all proceeds going directly to the campaign fund.

The Brave Warriors will leave for Botswana shortly after the event to continue their quest for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
