Swapo sets sights on Khorixas

OPUWO The Swapo Party has announced plans to retake control of the Khorixas Town Council and constituency office in the upcoming November Regional Council and Local Authority elections.

The announcement follows the finalisation of the party’s candidate selection process in Kunene region.

Julius Kaujova, Swapo’s regional coordinator for Kunene, told Nampa the party’s conferences were concluded smoothly, attributing the success to the unity and political maturity of its members. “Our conferences were finalised without infighting or petitions from delegates or contestants. There were only a few minor issues we resolved internally.

This is a sign our comrades in Kunene are mature and united for a common goal. Our aim is to reclaim the regional and local authority administration from the opposition,” Kaujova said.

He expressed confidence Swapo will repeat its historic 2015 victory in Kunene, when it won five of the seven constituencies and gained full control of all four local authorities.

“The history of 2015 will be repeated this year. As a regional chief administrator, I have confidence in all our candidates,” he said.

According to Kaujova, the party’s selection of candidates in Khorixas reflects a mix of experience and new perspectives, designed to address the diverse needs of the local population.

Sydney Ganeb was elected the party’s candidate for the Khorixas Regional Council election, defeating Cornetha Adams, Gerson Gaogaseb and Elis Taniseb.

The party also selected seven candidates for the local authority elections: Thomas Adams, Yvonne Howaes, Stella Ganes, Lourence Hoeseb, Emmanuel Sebastian, David Sakaria and Eveline Hoaes. – Nampa
