Namibia’s fast-rising boxing sensation, Flame ‘Special One’ Nangolo, is set to defend his WBO super featherweight title in what is billed as one of the most exciting bouts of the year.
The much-anticipated showdown will take place tomorrow night at the Roman Catholic Hall in Windhoek, where Nangolo will take on Steven Bagwasi of Botswana.
Sitting at number 16 in the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) rankings, Nangolo is just one win from breaking into the prestigious top 15 – a major step towards a world title opportunity.
At only 25 years, Nangolo has already melted the hearts of Namibian boxing fans with his aggressive style, sharp technique, and charismatic presence in and out of the ring. His upcoming fight against Bagwasi is more than just a title defence – it’s a pivotal moment in his career. “Every fight is a chance to prove that Namibians belong on the world stage,” Nangolo said during a recent press conference.
“This is my time, and I plan to make it count.” Bagwasi, a seasoned competitor, is expected to bring experience and pressure to the ring, making this a truly competitive international bout.
Bagwasi has 10 fights, nine wins and one loss. The bill is expected to draw boxing fans from across the country, with organisers urging the public to come out in full force to support their local hero. Doors open at 18h00.
