Deadly stabbing
In Okahandja Park, Ernesto Lucas Ngongo Ndara (19), was fatally stabbed on Saturday morning.
The tragedy unfolded when he and a friend went to fetch water from a communal tap – an ordinary task that turned violent after an argument broke out with two men.
Police accounts state that the suspect slapped Ndara twice across the face.
The victim responded by throwing a stone, which missed.
The suspect then drew a kitchen knife and chased Ndara for nearly 40 metres before stabbing him in the back.
Despite managing to run home, he collapsed from severe bleeding and died before his family could get him to hospital.
The suspect was later arrested in Okahandja.
Home invasion horror
Three armed suspects, wearing balaclavas, allegedly stormed a house in Erma Street, Ludwigsdorf, while the family was asleep.
Police reports stated that the intruders forced open the main door after lifting the gate off its rails.
Once inside, they held the family at gunpoint and demanded valuables.
One of the victims was pistol-whipped, sustaining minor head injuries that required medical attention.
The robbers escaped with items worth an estimated N$86 000, including electronics, jewellery and cash.
No arrests have yet been made, and investigations are ongoing.
Dorado Park robbery
In Dorado Park, Windhoek, two armed suspects attacked a house occupied by university students between 21h00 and 22h00 on Saturday.
Police reports state that the suspects entered through an open gate, ambushed a student outside and forced their way into the house at gunpoint.
Inside, they held three more students hostage, striking one young woman on the head with a pistol, causing minor injuries.
The terrified students were forced to hand over their belongings.
The suspects fled with eight mobile phones, two laptops, cash and other valuables worth about N$50 000.
None of the stolen items have been recovered.
No arrests have been made.
Shootout with police
What began as a routine police stop in Dorado Park turned violent on Saturday night when suspects in a metallic blue Honda Fit opened fire on officers along Hendrik Witbooi Drive.
Police stated that the suspects ignored instructions to stop, sparking a chase that ended when the vehicle came to a halt.
Five men jumped out and attempted to flee, with two running into a riverbed.
In the chaos, shots were fired at officers, forcing them to return fire.
One suspect, a 25-year-old Namibian man, was shot in the back and rushed to Katutura hospital. Police recovered multiple mobile phones, a screwdriver, chargers and other suspected stolen items from the vehicle.
The remaining suspects are still at large, fuelling concerns over rising gun violence in Windhoek suburbs.
Opuwo hit-and-run
On Friday night, a pedestrian was struck by two vehicles in Otjihama village along the Omakange-Opuwo main road.
The victim, identified as 63-year-old Tjipazombua Herikutja, was walking along the road at around 19h00 when he was hit by an unknown vehicle, which fled the scene.
As he lay injured, a second vehicle ran over his body and drove away, leaving him to die instantly from severe injuries.
Herikutja’s next of kin have been informed.
Police have launched a manhunt for the drivers and are appealing to the public for information.
