Namibia’s leading boxing stable, MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing & Fitness Academy, yesterday announced that it will stage another action-packed boxing bonanza in November.
According to the stable’s statement, top prospect Mateus “The Beast” Heita will headline the event, which is set to take place at the Windhoek Country Club & Casino.
The 27-year-old will face Clement Leko from Benin for the vacant WBO Africa Featherweight title. Heita, who boasts a professional record of 14 fights, 13 wins and one loss, will be looking to redeem himself after his July defeat to American fighter Bruce Carrington.
Leko, meanwhile, enters the contest with 13 fights, 11 wins and one draw, and will be a stern test for the Namibian. Promoter and coach Nestor Tobias said the event promises to be one of the biggest of the year.
“This will be one of the biggest and most attractive fights of the year. Tickets will go for N$200 for general entry, while VIP tables seating 10 guests will cost N$20 000. We thank our main sponsor, MTC and co-sponsor PstBet for their support. With more partners, we can continue producing fighters who represent Namibia at international level,” Tobias said.
Also on the card, Paulinus “John John” Ndjolonimus will be seeking redemption of his own after suffering a controversial defeat in July this year against Germany’s Simon Libichhuber. Ndjolonimus will battle Snamiso Ntuli of South Africa for the vacant WBO Africa Super Middleweight title over 12 rounds.
Meanwhile, Harry Simon Jr, son of Namibia’s first world champion Harry Simon, will face the vastly experienced Kamanga Paul from the Democratic Republic of Congo, now based in South Africa, in an International Welterweight bout scheduled for 10 rounds.
