The Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF), in partnership with Bank Windhoek, will this weekend stage the much-anticipated Bank Windhoek Volleyball Cup in the capital.
The prestigious competition will take place at Ramatex, featuring both men’s and women’s teams vying for top honours.
In the men’s category, 12 teams will battle it out, while the women’s division will see eight (8) teams competing for supremacy.
This year, the event will mark its 17th edition. The annual event boasts a total prize pool of N$100 000, bringing together winners and runners-up from leagues across the country.
Afrocat Lions will enter the tournament as defending champions in the men’s category.
The Namibia Defence Force (NDF) Phoenix will look to retain their title in the women’s division.
Speaking to this publication yesterday, head coach of Afrocat Lions Aloisius Ishtile said his team is fully prepared for the weekend showdown.
“We’ve spent a lot of time preparing for this. All our top players are available. Heading into the weekend, we’re both mentally and physically ready. We’re hoping for the best outcome,” he said.
On defending their title, Ishtile acknowledged the growing competitiveness of the tournament but remains confident in his team’s abilities. “Every year, the competition gets tougher as teams improve. This year will be no different, but we’re ready to work hard to stay on top. I’m positive that every team will bring their A-game to the court on Saturday,” he added
