Beauties intensify training ahead of new season

Current FNB Women Super League (WSL) champions, Okahandja Beauties have intensified their training ahead of the upcoming season, with their sights firmly set on defending their league title.

Beauties, who are from Okahandja, ended Tura Magic’s (now known as Ongos Ladies) six-year dominance earlier this year after an impressive unbeaten run in the league. They finished the 2024/25 FNB WSL campaign without a single loss, winning 17 of their 22 matches and recording four draws to clinch their historic title.

Speaking to this publication, head coach Salome Iiyambo said preparations are progressing well as the team gears up for what promises to be a competitive season. “Preparations for the new season are going well, and the team is looking forward to the challenges ahead. We anticipate a strong competition because every team will be eager to defeat the reigning champions,” she said.

Iiyambo added that the team’s participation in the he Confédération Africaine de Football’ (CAF) Women’s Champions League qualifiers has given them valuable experience and a mental edge heading into the new campaign.

“Our recent CAF Women’s Champions League campaign was a great learning curve, but we cannot rely solely on that experience going into this season. We have studied our opponents, planned well, and are confident that this season will be even more exciting,” she said.

With the NFA confirming that the transfer window is currently open, Iiyambo said the club has started beefing up their squad for the new season.

“In terms of the squad, we are pleased to welcome back Nicole Philander, and we are finalising the addition of three new players to strengthen the team further.

The ladies possess the character, resilience and determination needed to handle pressure and proudly fight for the badge,” she said.
