Nandi-Ndaitwah hails Delta school ‘ambassadors’

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has praised pupils and teachers from Delta School for representing Namibia with pride at the Joy of Europe Festival in Serbia.

He called them “cultural ambassadors”, who carried the country’s spirit to the world.

Speaking during a courtesy visit at State House, the President said she was proud of the learners’ achievements.

She thanked them for promoting Namibia’s culture, peace and unity through song and dance on the international stage.

“I have not made a mistake in appointing you as the Honorary Consul for Namibia in Serbia,” she told the school’s host, Draga Boscovic, who led the delegation.

“You are really doing a commendable job because bringing these young people to participate in this programme is very important. This talks to one of our priority areas – the creative industry,” she proudly commented.

The President said the delegation had shown the world what Namibia stands for.

“These are our cultural ambassadors from Delta School. You have taken the spirit of Namibia to the world. I am sure those you met are still talking highly about our country,” she said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised that art, music and dance are powerful tools that tell Namibia’s story of diversity and unity.

“Through dances, songs and art, you are letting others know the richness of our culture and what it means to our peace and stability,” the President said.

She congratulated the learners, and encouraged them to share their experience with other pupils once they return to school.

“It’s a pity we could not meet before you left, but I’m happy to meet you now. Tell your classmates and community about what you learned, because not all children have this opportunity. What you brought home must reach beyond Delta School,” said the President.

She thanked the group on behalf of all Namibians.

“I am saying this – thank you from the bottom of my heart – on behalf of the 3.01 million Namibians you have represented,” she said.

The learners shared their excitement about the trip, describing it as a life-changing experience.

“Serbia was amazing,” said one pupil.

“We met many friends from different countries and learned about their culture,” said the learner.

Another learner added, “We had fun, and made friends with a school called Lina Karadzic. It was great to see how other children live and learn”.

According to the delegation leader, Namibia’s flag was placed in the centre during the festival’s main ceremony.

The Delta group performed at major events, including the television opening and a large concert at the Sava Centre in Belgrade.

“Our children did very well and were placed in front because of their rhythm and energy,” she said proudly.

The President concluded by expressing her admiration for the group’s success and for the strengthening of Namibia-Serbia ties through such exchanges.

“You have made us proud,” she said.

“Keep shining and continue to carry the Namibian spirit wherever you go,” she added.
