The final round of the MTC Volleyball National League takes place in Swakopmund this weekend, marking the end of an intense season filled with fierce competition, high emotions and the crowning of Namibia’s top volleyball teams.
Fans can expect a dramatic finish as champions are decided, top performers honoured and some teams relegated while others earn promotion to the national league. League coordinator Albert Khevare said the weekend promises both celebration and heartbreak.
“There will be sadness and joy at the same time because we will be awarding the top performers while some teams face relegation. We are very excited to see who will be crowned champions on both the ladies’ and men’s sides,” he said.
The Rivals have dominated the women’s division with an unbeaten run, while the Namibia Correctional Service lead the men’s standings, also without defeat. Khevare said the competitiveness of the league has been remarkable, crediting both new and established teams for maintaining high standards throughout the season.
Despite challenges such as long travel distances and limited resources, the commitment of clubs across the country has kept the league vibrant and engaging for fans.
Khevare praised MTC’s continued sponsorship for transforming volleyball into one of Namibia’s most rapidly growing sports. “With the MTC Volleyball National League, there’s now visibility and a reason to play. Everyone wants to be part of the elite and compete at the highest level in the country,” he said. As the season comes to an end in Swakopmund, all eyes will be on the court to see who will walk away as the national champions and who earns another chance to rise next season.
