Ome Backoz releases Sabusen

Renowned veteran Ma/ Gaisa producer, singer, songwriter, and artist, popularly known as Andreas Ignatius !Aibeb Ome Backoz, is back with his 12th studio album titled ‘Sabusen’.

The ‘! Gûbēxū’ hitmaker has maintained his style after many years of consistently releasing music in 2018, 2022, and now finally in 2025.

“This album mostly has fancy tunes with edutaining lyrical content. The lyrics are mostly about daily life experiences and warnings about the dangers of some lifestyles,” he said.

Ome Backoz has teamed up with the best when assembling the project, such as Steven !Naruseb, Spechel !Howaeb, Michael Nehale, !Ôubasen (Au Donkey), Ou Stakes, and Mr. Green, just to name a few.

“The title is Sabusen, which means shake yourself. I chose it because it is a dance album. I have gained more experience over the years, and this is evident in my music. My fans can have this album for the coming festive season to dance through the seasons,” he said.

Apart from making hits in the studio, Ome Backoz has been a key part of the Next Ma/Gaisa Star Search Competition as a guest judge to find the next big talent.

“I have been the head judge for all four seasons. My main contribution to the show is to provide guidance, advice, and to help shape these young stars who will be the future of the genre one day,” he explained.

His dual role as an academic and cultural practitioner has made him a respected figure in both education and the country’s arts community.

“It is important to create awareness about one’s own musical identity and keep the youth informed and busy with musical activities,” he said.

Ome Backoz thanked his fans for their unwavering support, even though music consumption has changed.

“It’s a challenge; not many people buy CDs anymore. I reproduce CDs and USBs for this album. USBs are selling well. I want to thank all artists and producers for their contributions. Also, I want to thank the diehard fans who support and buy my music. I encourage them to keep supporting and to stop piracy,” said the musician.
