The 65th celebration of the Oktoberfest will be held in the capital from the 31st of today till tomorrow at Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW). Oktoberfest, translated to ‘October festival’ brings together people in the spirit of culture and joy.

The Windhoek Oktoberfest is hosted in collaboration with SKW and Namibia Breweries Limited and has grown from a community celebration into one of Namibia’s most anticipated cultural events. With more than 6,000 visitors each year, it now serves as a platform for cultural exchange, economic stimulation, and strategic engagement.

This year’s celebration will see guests being entertained by the Kirchdorfer Band, Rocktoberfest Dancers, Schuhplattler, and local acts like The Yesterday’s and Yola B. There will also be activities such as Hau den Lukas, Bierstemmen, log-sawing, and the Beer Queen finals.

Ndeshipewa Akwenye, Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL ) communications manager, praised the partnership, noting that it has been a great journey in building a festival which is constantly evolving and infused with various cultures.

“Our partnership with SKW has been instrumental. Together, we’ve built a festival that honours tradition while embracing innovation. NBL has proudly invested in the event for over a decade, ensuring its continuity and growth,” said Akwenye.

A new feature added to the event this year is the inclusion of non-alcoholic hydration stations, ensuring that all festival goers are included and everyone can celebrate moderately and safely.

Akwenye further added that the event honours Namibian- German heritage through music, dance, and shared traditions, while embracing the rich diversity of our nation.

“It’s an inclusive space where people from all backgrounds come together to celebrate, connect, and experience the joy of true togetherness,” she said.
