The Namibian Defence Force Training Establishment (NDF TE) proudly hosted the much-anticipated Commandant Boxing Cup on Wednesday at the lively Summer House Lounge, situated within the Osona Military Base.
The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of supporters and showcased the incredible boxing talent nurtured within Namibia’s disciplined defence and youth sporting structures.
The competition featured spirited participation from teams representing the NDF Training Establishment, the Namibia Special Forces (NSF), and the After School Centre, among others. Each bout displayed grit, skill, and determination as boxers competed across various weight divisions in both the junior and senior categories for men and women.
The tournament created a thrilling atmosphere of competition, highlighting the importance of sport in shaping character and discipline. Demonstrating exceptional dominance throughout the event, NDF TE emerged as the overall champions, claiming the majority of gold medals and earning the coveted Best Team award. Individual brilliance was also on full display, with standout performances from Muteta Titus of NDF TE and Setson Embale of NSF.
Their precision, agility, and tactical excellence earned them the prestigious Best Boxer titles, solidifying their reputations as some of the most promising talents in military boxing.
The event was officially opened by Deputy Commandant Colonel Jeffrey Zaamuani, who commended all participants for their dedication and fighting spirit.
In his remarks, Colonel Zaamuani emphasised the vital role of sports in cultivating teamwork, discipline, and resilience among members of the armed forces and the broader community.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the participants and winners. Your hard work and determination truly shone through. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this exciting event. Let’s continue to promote sportsmanship and unity in our community,” he said.
