Urban and rural development minister James Sankwasa will today be bestowed with one of Africa’s most prestigious awards at the annual Africa Housing Awards in Abuja, Nigeria, where his unwavering dedication to improved rural and housing development in Namibia and on the continent will be recognised.
At today’s Africa Housing Awards, which are Africa’s foremost housing, construction and rural development awards, Sankwasa will be awarded for his exemplary leadership and impactful contributions to sustainable housing, urban development initiatives, and improved living conditions across the continent.
The minister’s nomination for the continental award was announced at the ministry’s recent end-of-year function held in Windhoek, where Sankwasa thanked the staff for their support, teamwork, dedication and innovative ways of delivering better housing and rural development to Namibians.
Sankwasa expressed gratitude for the acknowledgement, noting that the recognition reflects not only his efforts but also the collective commitment of the ministry and its partners to drive inclusive development throughout Namibia.
“Despite the many challenges, we have managed to remain vigilant and productive. I can only thank God for allowing me to work with people like you. Thank you so much for being a wonderful team. I have been in this office for eight months and I’m happy with the work we have done, and I hope we will continue at the same pace next year,” said the minister.
Alongside Sankwasa, today’s awards will also confer accolades on other African industry leaders and companies that have played an instrumental role in advancing housing development and urban growth in various countries.
The awards also recognise and appreciate hardworking and innovative companies and personalities in numerous spheres of housing development, construction and people-centred development.
The event helps put major players of the housing and construction industry on the global stage, recognising and celebrating top performers within the industry who have made significant contributions to the sector over the year in review.
