Former Katima CEO laid to rest

KATIMA MULILO – Former Katima Mulilo Town Council CEO Charles Nawa Nawa was laid to rest on Friday  at his maternal home village of Luhonono (Schuckmannsburg) in Kabbe North constituency of the Zambezi region.

Nawa died last week Friday in a Windhoek hospital at the age of 57 (not 50 as earlier reported). Speaking at the late Nawa’s memorial service held at the Ngweze community hall on Thursday, Minister of Urban and Rural Development James Sankwasa praised Nawa’s wisdom, describing him as a man of many talents.

Sankwasa, who graced both the memorial and burial service of the late Nawa in his private capacity, as family, said, “He was a man of many talents,” while praising him for being critical of every situation in life and having answers for every question posed to him in society.

Retired diplomat Benjamin Mabuku described him as a genius nephew who continued to do good deeds for society even during his retirement, stressing that the scores of people who came to say goodbye to him underscored that.

The late Nawa served as CEO of the Katima Mulilo Town Council

from 2012 to 2016. He is survived by his wife, Inonge Sikanda–Nawa, eight children and one grandchild.
