Ballotti to address Education Day

Ballotti to address Education Day

Matheus David

Deputy education minister Dino Ballotti is expected to address learner representative councils from schools in the Khomas region, exchange notes and share their views on education.

The event is part of Namibia’s celebration of the International Day of Education, themed ‘The power of youth in co-creating education’.

The International Day of Education is celebrated every year to recognise education as a basic human right and to highlight the important role young people play in shaping schools and learning.

This year’s event focuses on giving learners a voice in the decisions that affect their education and future.

The engagement will bring together Learner Representative Councils (LRCs) from schools in the region.

Learners will take part in a structured dialogue with national policymakers, share their experiences and discuss ideas for improving schools. In a press release issued by the education ministry, the programme will include addresses from the deputy minister, youth and education advocates and a learner-led question-and-answer session.

The education ministry hopes this engagement will strengthen learner leadership skills, encourage participation and inclusion in schools, promote shared responsibility in upholding school standards, accountability and governance, and also gather feedback that can help improve education policies.

The event will take place at the Government Office Park Auditorium from 09h00 to 12h00.

The ministry sees this as an important step towards building a learner-centred, inclusive and future-ready education system that involves young people as partners in shaping their own learning.
