Miss Rose releases ‘Hold my hand’

ROSALIA SHIKULO, better known by her stage name Miss Rose, released her latest project.

It blends storytelling, social commentary and emotional depth in a way that resonates far beyond the screen.

In the video, Miss Rose flips a familiar festive-season narrative shared humorously about disappearing partners, especially men, who reappear only after the holiday has ended.

Her video intentionally reverses the roles.

The man is left at home without explanation, unhappy and confused.

“This was done deliberately. I wanted men to put themselves in women’s shoes and realise that it’s not a good thing to do,” she said.

The visuals are thought-provoking, challenging viewers to look past humour and consider the emotional impact of such behaviour.

Music lover

Although she has been singing for as long as she can remember, her professional journey took shape around 2017/18 when she recorded her first studio track. At the time, she was experimenting with different sounds and creating music purely for the love of it and for fun.

She initially wanted to remain anonymous, hoping listeners would enjoy the music regardless of who was behind it.

“I later realised that, unfortunately, just like any other brand, as a singer, I’m a brand too. People support what they know and trust,” she said.

That realisation marked a turning point in her life. As an independent artist, Miss Rose has had to self-fund her art, covering studio time, video shoots and the administrative demands of maintaining a music brand.

Although the journey has not been easy, independence has given her creative freedom.

“I can do whatever I see fit for my brand without asking permission,” she shared.

Collaboration has also become a key lesson along the way, as she believes success in the music industry is built on mutual support.

“Fellow creatives will only assist you if you’re also willing to assist others. If you can, always be there for others,” said the artist.

The song was produced by Mr Glo, who also features in it. The video was shot by Sodo of Basement Films, while the concept was developed by Miss Rose herself and refined by her creative friends, FourtyEight and Pinehas K Pinehas.

Despite the challenges of the music industry, Miss Rose remains driven.

“Challenges are everywhere. But where there’s a will, there’s a way. It all comes down to how badly you want it,” she said.

Looking ahead, the singer revealed that she has several unreleased tracks in the works.

However, before dropping new music, she is asking fans to help push her existing releases to reach a wider audience.

“I want more people to enjoy good music,” she shared.
