The Namibia Secondary Schools Rugby (NSSR) league unveiled its new kit for the 2026 season on Tuesday afternoon during a sponsorship engagement held at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek.
The event was hosted in partnership with main sponsor Momentum, alongside co-sponsors MyZone, XCO Group and Zuco.
The engagement highlighted various sponsorship opportunities and emphasised the importance of investing in youth sports development. The newly unveiled kit will be worn by the national junior rugby teams, ranging from U/15 to U/19 level.
Speaking on behalf of the title sponsor, Momentum, marketing group executive Dennille Rooster said the league provides young players with an opportunity to lead, collaborate and learn resilience both on and off the field. She expressed appreciation to all stakeholders involved in the league’s continued success.
“We are pleased and excited to be part of this collaboration and equally grateful to have such a strong team of co-sponsors supporting this initiative. We appreciate the government’s involvement, as well as the commitment shown by the schools and the rugby union,” said Rooster.
The league is set to kick off in the coming weeks, with 12 teams entered in the Premier League, alongside teams competing in the B, C and D leagues.
Schools from across the country will compete in a home-and-away format, travelling to various regions throughout the season.
Last season’s winning captain, Durand Louw of Moria Private School, said his team was proud of the history they made and the brotherhood they built. He added that they are looking forward to welcoming new teams into the league and testing their abilities once again.
De Duine Secondary School rugby captain Dave Nyambe said he expects his team to demonstrate greater integrity and improvement this season.
“I expect my team to show more integrity and to perform better than last year. I hope they have trained well, as this season looks like it is going to be a tough one, judging by the teams involved,” he said.
Nyambe added that he is particularly excited to face Windhoek High School and Windhoek Gymnasium, describing them as the most challenging opponents and valuable opportunities for personal growth.
