Bitler hails successful start to Khomas Netball League

The chairperson of the Khomas Netball League, Dimitri Bitler, said the commencement of the Khomas Netball League season was a resounding success this past weekend, with an overwhelming response from clubs, players and supporters alike.

“Almost all registered teams reported for their scheduled matches, demonstrating the commitment and enthusiasm surrounding the new season. The only team that did not pitch for their fixtures was the Namibian Defence Force,” he said.

He added that, “despite a few minor logistical challenges, the opening weekend proceeded smoothly and set a positive tone for the remainder of the competition”.

“One of the most notable highlights was the impressive crowd turnout. Spectator attendance exceeded expectations, with many supporters filling the stands throughout the day. We haven’t seen a large crowd at a Khomas netball league match in quite some time, a clear indication of the growing interest in the sport within the region,” he said.

He added that this season also introduces a refreshed competition format, which includes improved match orientation and a structured build-up of games throughout the day.

“The new approach has already proven to enhance the excitement and overall matchday experience, allowing spectators to enjoy a steady progression of competitive fixtures.

“While most of the planned innovations were successfully implemented, one feature that could not yet be introduced was the Player of the Match accolade for the Super 10 division. We will finalise this during the coming week, with the intention of implementing the recognition from the next round of fixtures,” he added.  -lmupetami@nepc.com.na
