Kaulinge eyes new film release amid call for support

Namibian action film actor Jonas Kaulinge is set to release a new movie soon, marking another step in his growing career in the film industry.

Kaulinge rose to prominence after appearing in the Hollywood production ’10 000 BC’, a breakthrough that introduced him to international audiences and positioned him among emerging Namibian talents in action cinema.

His journey into acting is rooted in both cultural heritage and global inspiration. Kaulinge hails from the Ondonga royal family and was named after Mwadikange Vilho Kaulinge, a respected former headman of Ondobe. This background, he says, has shaped his identity and discipline both on and off screen.

The actor has previously credited Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone as a major influence on his career.

Stallone is widely known for portraying the iconic character John Rambo, a role that inspired Kaulinge’s passion for action-packed storytelling.

Speaking recently, Kaulinge confirmed that production on his latest project, titled King of Action, is underway, although details about the film remain limited. He said the project will showcase local talent and storytelling while aiming to meet international standards.

“I am working hard to bring something powerful and unique to audiences,” he said.

“This film is not only about entertainment but also about showing that Namibia has talent that can compete globally,” he added.  Despite his progress, Kaulinge acknowledged funding challenges, noting that he is still seeking sponsorship to complete and promote the project. He called on potential investors and partners to support the initiative, saying such backing is crucial for the growth of the local film industry.

Industry observers say his efforts reflect a broader shift, as more Namibian creatives push to establish themselves both locally and internationally.

The country’s film sector, though still developing, continues to gain recognition through independent productions and international collaborations.

Kaulinge remains optimistic that his upcoming release will inspire young actors and filmmakers across Namibia to pursue careers in the creative arts.
