Telecommunications giant, MTC, through its bursary scheme, awarded bursaries to six students for the 2026 academic year during a recent ceremony in Windhoek.

MTC has allocated N$1.5 million towards the bursary programme for the 2025/26 financial year, reaffirming the company’s continued commitment to aiding the education sector by uplifting dedicated students who are unable to fund their academic fees.

The recipients include four new intake students and two continuing students pursuing qualifications in accounting, data science, cybersecurity, computer science and business information systems at the University of Namibia (Unam), Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust) and the International University of Management (IUM).

The bursary recipients are Anastasia Twamoneni, a second year Bachelor of Commerce in Chartered Accounting at Unam; Amukwa, third year bachelor’s degree in data science at the same institution; Meinhold Muyenga, a Postgraduate Diploma in Cybersecurity student at Nust;  and Lyuvika Amadhila, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science student (Unam).

Continuing from the 2025 intake are Kadischa Wasserfall and Willryna Basson.  Former MTC bursary holder, and now the company’s corporate communications specialist Erasmus Nekundi expressed congratulations to the beneficiaries.

“It is satisfying to see more students continuing to benefit from the very same bursary programme which assisted me in my academic journey some years back,” Nekundi stated.

“This is not just funding the academic journey but also a possible opportunity for the recipients to secure employment opportunities at MTC upon completing their studies,” he said.

Since the inception of the bursary programme, MTC has invested a total of N$5.7 million towards tertiary education support for deserving and talented Namibian students across various academic disciplines.
