Futsal Namibia will host a talent identification and development session today to attract young players to the fast-growing indoor version of football, as the sport continues to gain momentum across the country.
The session is scheduled to take place at Van Ryn Primary School from 17h30 to 18h30 and is open to boys and girls aged 15 to 23.
One of the organisers, Donovan Modise, says the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to develop futsal at the grassroots level and provide young athletes with opportunities to showcase their abilities while learning more about the sport.
Modise further said the programme is expected to create opportunities for talented players to be discovered.
“Hosting this will open more doors for futsal players to be discovered. Futsal is growing in Namibia, and we want more young people to become part of the sport,” said Modise.
He explained that futsal continues to attract an increasing number of players due to its fast-paced nature, technical demands, and ability to improve football skills such as ball control, passing, and decision-making.
According to Modise, the session will also encourage youth participation in sport and create a platform for social interaction and healthy lifestyles among young people.
He has further encouraged aspiring players from across Windhoek and surrounding areas to attend the session, regardless of their previous experience in futsal.
The promotional campaign for the event forms part of a broader vision to grow the game and inspire the next generation of futsal stars in Namibia.
