Police brutality has no place in Namibia

Home Letters Police brutality has no place in Namibia

Reports this week of police brutality are unacceptable. We don’t live in a police state. We are governed by law and order. We are a constitutional state and no one is above the law. Also, everyone is innocent until proven guilty by court. The police should stop relying on confessions and go out and investigate cases and have proper prima facie cases brought to court. This brutal assault while the police look on is shameful. The police have a duty to prevent crime, not be part of it.
