WINDHOEK – MTC Premiership League champions Black Africa finally got their groove back after they beat a stubborn Touch & Go 3-2 in a tightly contested match at the Unam Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday.
With Saturday’s hard-fought victory, the defending champions are sitting second on the log table with 28 points, just seven points behind leaders African Stars.
BA drew first blood via their lethal goal-poacher Roger Katjiteo, who scored within 10 minutes, but Touch & Go equalised seven minutes later when Laurens Gurirab ‘butchered’ the ball into the net. Quinton Khuruseb restored BA’s lead a few minutes later to go into the changeover leading 2-1.
In the second half, Brian Bantam scored BA’s third goal. Clear goal-scoring chances emerged for both teams, and Touch & Go’s Asser Haramseb utilised one to score his team’s second goal to end the match 3-2 in favour of BA.
In a post-match interview, BA coach Ronnie Kanalelo said his team could have scored more goals if they had used the chances they had. He stated that his players kept the pressure well, but they needed to defend more. “There was too much space in the central midfield and we just kept losing balls easily,” said Kanalelo.
In matches that were hastily staged at the crumbling Sam Nujoma Stadium, Civics lost to Eleven Arrows 1-2, while Blue Waters and Citizens drew 2-all.
