WINDHOEK- A gang of robbers travelling in a micro-bus last week on Friday shot and injured two pedestrians after they attempted to rob a motorist.

Initially the gang chased Otjomuise resident Laban Kandume and tried to force him off the road.

Kandume was on his way home from town where he went to buy food from the KFC fast-food outlet.

When he resisted being forced off the road the armed robbers allegedly shot at his rear tyres deflating them.

Kandume consequently stopped and fled into nearby bushes leaving his food and N$700 in cash that the unknown gang took and fled the scene.

When he emerged from his hideaway he discovered that two pedestrians were shot in the legs in the crossfire from the gang.

The two pedestrians who sustained injuries were identified as Leonard Gertze, 25, and Shaliano Scheepers, 17.

The head of the Namibian Police Public Relations Division, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi confirmed the robbery and the shooting of the two.

Police are still investigating the case and had not made any arrest. The two that were shot are said to be fine and were discharged from hospital.
