RUNDU – Forty-five (45) people, who claim to have been All Peoples Party (APP) supporters, have re-joined the ruling Swapo Party at Mashare, east of Rundu.

Swapo, through the Constituency Councillor, Bonifatius Wakudumo, held a welcoming meeting on Sunday at Naita village of Mashare constituency, 27 km east of Rundu to welcome the members who once left the party to join APP.

Wakudumo told New Era that the members decided to leave APP on their own will to rejoin the party they once belonged to “They decided to come back home on their own will and majority are youth and many from different villages are still coming. Today we are welcoming the ones from Naita village and will organise another meeting to welcome others.” Said Bonifatius Wakudumo.

During the welcoming meeting, one of the former APP members who have now rejoined Swapo during the meeting said, “I used to be a APP member and now I have decided to come back to Swapo with my siblings, children and grandchildren, those who always thought that Siteketa was the APP president, today I have left and those that used to hide behind my back know that today I am Swapo.” said Michael Siteketa, he added that those who followed him to APP should also follow suit and return home, referring to Swapo.

The group of 45 that rejoined Swapo consisted mainly of women and few men.
