WINDHOEK-Miss Youth Namibia for 2013 and 2014, Dorcas ‘Deizzy’ Mbevo has been chosen as the National Director for both Namibia and Angola, by the Miss Global International (MGI).

Deizzy says to be chosen as a national director for two countries is an indescribable feeling. “I am honoured, privileged and thankful to the MGI for trusting and believing in me. This is a journey that I have agreed to take with the committee and failure is not an option,” she says. She adds that being a national director for a specific pageant organisation comes with responsibilities of its own, and this particular pageant is not an exception. “I am to see to it that all the rules, requirements and regulations of the organising committee are adhered to and respected in Namibia and Angola when it comes to the selection of the two candidates, Minzonzi Kompeli and Rossana Chiwale who will be taking part in MGI end of this year as I am also their representative,” says Deizzy.

After being crowned Miss Youth Namibia 2013 and having up to seven titles to her name, Deizzy, however, says it was a breakthrough for her to reach the outside stage and international level that she is always dreamed off since the beginning of her modelling career in 2011. “Having to represent Namibia on such a global platform was a humbling experience that was made possible by the National Youth Council (NYC) of Namibia, which I am thankful for. Being a student and persuing what you love doing at the same time is not easy, it has never been easy and it will never be easy but worth it when you have to be the one to tell the world about a beautiful country that you are representing,” she says.

Deizzy was born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and moved to Namibia in 2003. Currently she is busy preparing for her upcoming pageants as she will be taking part in Miss Commonwealth International 2014 to be hosted in United Kingdom (UK) in November. “I am emotionally and physically ready and looking forward to prove to the commonwealth pageant committees that Namibia has more than just sport qualifications. I leave everything into God’s hands because if it is to be then it’s going to be by His own will. My advice to all young women and men who are looking forward to joining the modelling world, or any other entertaining industry, is to keep in mind that they will never be able to model for the rest of their lives. One day they will fall out of the required age and will need a plan B and they should start working and focusing on that plan B right now, which is their educational qualifications,” she signs off.
