RUNDU – Sikeso Edward Musongo, 29, yesterday appeared in court for the murder of Maria Mbunze Nseu, 29.

The body of Nseu was found lying in the open last Friday at the sprawling settlement of Ndama in Rundu.

Musongo appeared before Magistrate Victor Nyazo while Maria N N Andimba appeared for the State.

The case was postponed to 14 October for further police investigations.

Musongo was denied bail due to the seriousness of the charges he faces.

Police spokesman Chief Inspector Sam !Nawaseb revealed that initially three suspects were detained and interrogated by detectives on the same day that the stark naked body of Nseu was discovered.

“We got him the same day after interrogating  the three people that we brought in for questioning and he turned out to be the main suspect,” said !Nawaseb.

!Nawaseb appealed to the community to open up to the police and assist by alerting them on any suspicious activities as the police need the community’s cooperation.

“With support from the community it can make a difference because these criminals are in the community,” !Nawaseb told New Era.

The police in Kavango East have recently proven to be reliable and resolved several serious cases such as in the case of the arrest of suspects in the murder of a Chinese businessman at Rainbow Village.

“We are working hard from our side as the police but we need the community to work together with us, we want to work with them,” he said.
