WINDHOEK -Namibia’s most decorated athlete of all time, legendary sprinter Frank Fredericks’ 18-year old 100m world indoor record of 10,5-seconds was finally tumbled by the world fastest man, Jamaican sprinting sensation Usain Bolt on Saturday at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland.

Bolt clocked a remarkable time of 9.98-seconds to topple Fredericks’ 1996 world indoor record time of 10.05.

As it stands, Bolt’s new record time of 9.98-seconds is the best time ever recorded indoors in athletics history.

On his way to the finish line, Bolt brushed aside his compatriot Sheldon Mitchell by 0.35-seconds, leaving United States’ Trell Kimmons to pick up the pieces in 3rd place with his time of 10.34-seconds.

Just last year during the IAAF Diamond League meeting, Bolt ran an astonishing time of 19.79-seconds to break Fredericks’ 200m all time world indoor record of time 19,92-seconds achieved in Liévin, France in 1996.

Fredericks also holds the third-fastest non-winning time for the 200-m.

The Namibian is also the oldest man to have broken 20-seconds for the 200m after he won the 200m final in a time of 19.99 seconds at the age of 34 years 283 days.
