WINDHOEK – A police constable is expected to appear in the Okakarara Magistrate’s Court today for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend with a knife in Okondjatu.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at 01h00 when the couple had a heated argument and the suspect was reportedly under the influence.
The 29-year-old man who cannot be named until he appears in court, had a quarrel with his girlfriend, Maria Magdalena, 29, resulting in him drawing a knife and allegedly stabbing her in the upper leg.
Police have theorised the suspect was aiming for the woman’s private parts but he missed as he was drunk. Otjozondjupa Police Regional Investigations Crime Coordinator Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb confirmed the incident to New Era yesterday.
Although Khairabeb was unable to provide much information, he said that what caused the argument is believed to be jealousy. The woman was admitted to the Okakarara state hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
