WINDHOEK
– Artists based in the North are due for some recognition with the inauguration of the 065 Annual Music Awards who may have been left out of and by the Namibian main annual awards.

Initiated earlier this year by two music lovers, Pewuyohamba Sucess Da Silva and Johaness Choice Namuhuja, the awards are dedicated to all upcoming artists born and raised in the Northern part of the country with the main aim of motivating and uplifting their talents. The awards are introduced as the second Namibian annual music awards and are sponsored by Ames Investments. Registration forms are now out and can be requested via 065 AMA Facebook fan page with the due date of August 22. The final nominees will be released at the nomination party and Galla Dinner on August 25 at The Ekamuti Town Lodge in Ondangwa.

The first awards have 14 different categories including Artist of the Year. Each winner in the category will walk away with N$10 000, and the Artist of the Year N$10 000, plus a free full album recording, as well as 20 CDs and marketing posters. Registration forms are available for N$ 50 non refundable.

Success Da Silva says judging in the Best Video category is 100% by the judges while others through voting. “Musician can apply up to five different categories; they can also enter with more than one song per category as well. These awards are strictly for those who did not take part in big music awards like NAMAs, Channel O and others,” says Success Da Silva.

The venue is still to be announced at a later stage as well as the tickets cost. The awards will be hosted on December 27 this year.
