WINDHOEK-The 23 year-old Monika Pinias has become the first young author to publish a book about contemporary relationships tilted, Modern Relationships.

The book was launched earlier this month and has been said to be selling like sweets.  At the launch, Monika said, she hoped that the book would serve as an inspiration for young Namibians to behave responsibly and to respect themselves and their partners.

The book tells a tale of a young man who have everything going for himself but is unable to decide what he wants in terms of his relationship. “The book portrays how the man moves from one woman to another, and telling them all different stories to impress them. He has a woman that he loves, but can’t seem to stay away from the very exciting born frees,” says Monika.

Monika started writing stories on social network (Facebook) about how young people are taking relationships nowadays and after motivation by fans she decided to expand her work and get it published. “The book is teaching youths about real life issues and things happening to them. Since I was at school, I use to run a school magazine and after high school I started posting stories on Facebook and people kept on telling me that I needed to print my work. I decided to approach the Village newspaper that gave me a platform to start working on my book. After I left the Villager, I opened  a Facebook fan page which received over ten thousand likes and from there I decided it was time I publish a book,” Monika explains.

She says the process of writing the book was not easy because she was running other projects like managing Namibian artist, Mushe, and uplifting her company Intense Communications. “It was really hard but I had people around me who pushed me and motivated me to do my best,” she says advises everyone to buy the book.

The book is available from Antonio’s Art in Windhoek or by phoning these cell phone numbers: 0813787062 (Windhoek) and 0812077017 (Coast).
