WINDHOEK – After having successfully hosted their first amateur boxing tourney in Windhoek recently, the newly established Khomas Boxing Federation (KBF) will this weekend stage what promises to be another thrilling bonanza at the People’s Primary School Hall in Windhoek.

KBF public relations officer, Imms Moses, says the tourney is primarily aimed at unearthing raw talent while at the same time strive to develop amateur boxing at grassroots level.

Moses says the federation’s main objective is to take amateur boxing to greater heights with the objective of bringing back that sense of pride to amateur boxers.

“Boxing is amongst, if not, the fastest growing sport in Namibia and that’s why KBF has taken up the task of feeding the boxing fraternity with the best young boxers that will contribute to the sport in a few years’ time. The hosting of such tourneys enjoys top priority on the federation’s yearly calendar and we want to make sure all aspiring boxers get a chance to hone their skills on such platforms.”

The newly formed federation is home to seven boxing clubs from the Khomas Region – the Soweto Boxing Club (SBC), Golden Boxing Club (GBC), Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy (NSTBFA), Warriors Promotion (WP), After School Centre (ASC) Hooly Boxing Club and Unam Boxing Club (UBC).

All the affiliates will partake in this weekend’s event, with the first bout slated for 11h00 on Saturday morning.
