WINDHOEK – A 33-year-old resident of Onamwilwa Village in the Ohangwena Region was allegedly stabbed to death by a 25-year-old Namibian male after a quarrel over a beer.
The tragedy occurred last Thursday at about 23h35 at Ehafo number 2 flats in Ohangwena.
According to the weekly crime report, Gabriel Simeon died as a result of being stabbed in the left leg with a kitchen knife. He was rushed to Engela Hospital where he succumbed to excessive blood loss as a result of the stabbing.
It is alleged the suspect and the deceased had a quarrel over a beer of the deceased that the suspect drank without permission, which resulted in an argument that led to the stabbing.
The suspect was arrested and expected to appear in the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Two cases of armed robbery were reported in Windhoek over the weekend.
In the incidents that happened within minutes of each other the suspects kicked open the door of the premises and held the occupants at gunpoint before robbing them of their valuables.
The first incident happened at Erf 4580, Hans Dietrich Genscher Street in Khomasdal at about 02h30 on Saturday. Five suspects entered the house and got away with a flat screen TV, laptop, cellphone, DStv decoder and DVD player.
The second incident happened at Erf 6201, List Street in Windhoek West and the suspects got away with two cellphones.
A shot was fired in one of the rooms of the house, but no one was injured. No arrests were made in both instances, but police investigations continue.
Another case of armed robbery was reported when three suspects smashed the windows of both the passenger side and driver’s side of a vehicle and forced the driver out of the vehicle.
It is alleged they then stripped the 52-year-old driver completely naked, took his car keys, a pistol and cellphone and ran away leaving the driver and his car behind.
The incident happened on Saturday at about 18h00 on a gravel road behind Ramatex.
No arrests were made and police investigations continue.
An 83-year-old man was robbed of cash of N$2 000 and six firearms consisting of four rifles and two pistols on Saturday at about 22h00.
Hans Hoch of Plot 38, Usakos was tied to a chair after three robbers entered his house.
It is suspected the robbers had a key to the premises. He only managed to report the incident at 01h45 as his telephone was disconnected and no arrests were made and police investigations continue.
The body of an infant was discovered in a municipal container on Sunday at around 10h30 in Ceaser Street, next to Otjikaendu Den in Luxury Hill, Katutura.
A case of concealment of birth has been registered and police are asking anyone with information on a woman who was pregnant, but does not have a baby, to come forward.
A case of rape was opened by the Ohangwena Police after a sixteen-year-old boy had sexual intercourse with a six-year-old girl last week on Tuesday at around 21h00.
The victim and perpetrator stayed together in the same house where the incident occurred. A warning statement was obtained from the suspect and the case will be forwarded to the prosecutor general for a decision.
