WINDHOEK-The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) is hosting its first ever Miss SPYL beauty pageant on Saturday at the Nampower Conventional Centre.
The pageant will be filled with hive of entertainment and sees ten (10) young girls on the catwalk competing against each other flaunting their beauty, exposing their intelligence and beaming their self confidence. Hosted under the theme ‘Evolution of Beauty’, according to the event organiser, Ramona Hidileko, the main aim of the pageant is to mobilise young girls to collectively open up on women social issues.
However, she says that the event is not politically restricted or based on political affiliation. The winner of Miss SPYL will be given a responsibility to act as an Ambassador of SPYL. “The pageant would not only focus on identifying a beautiful woman as ambassador of the SPYL, but also seeks to empower women. It is not just a beauty pageant. We are looking beyond beauty,” she says. The queen, first and second princesses would also embark on different social projects just like in the national beauty pageant.
To top it up, artists such as The Dogg, Gazza, Mr Makoya and Kamasutra, will be among Namibian artists to entertain the audiences at large.
