… But will have to undo the Magic
WINDHOEK – With the MTC Namibia Premiership title almost out of reach, Katutura glamour club African Stars will this weekend fully shift their attention to the lucrative Bidvest Namibia Cup when they confront Tura Magic in the semi-finals at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday.
As defending champions of the Bidvest Cup, Stars will be out to avenge their ailing league title campaign on modern-era nemesis Magic and coach Woody Jacobs and his brigades know very well that a victory would go a long way in consoling their often vociferous and hard-to-please supporters.
Stars boast an almost clean injury sheet going into the match, with Lovers Kamuhanga being the only notable absentee from the squad as he is still nursing an ankle injury, while winger Joslin Kamatuka is also back after being sidelined by a nagging knee injury.
On paper, coach Jacobs has more variety and options because with players like Johannes ‘Boetitjie’ Seibeb, Razzie Tjikuzu, Ferdinand Karongee, Edwin Korukuze, Bradley ‘Asprilla’ Wermann, Freedom Puriza, Riaan Cloete and youngster Mcbright Ndjavera amongst others, Stars have potential match winners and players that can easily decide the fate of the match at will.
Stars must however be well advised not to take proceedings frivolously, as Magic have in recent matches proven to be giant killers and given their burning desire of wanting to win their first ever FA Cup competition, a surprise or two can be expected.
In the other semi-final match, last year’s semi-finalist United Stars take on first division side Citizens in what promises to be a cracker of a clash also at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. Tickets for the Sam Nujoma Stadium double-header cost N$30 each at Computicket outlets at all Shoprite and Checkers Stores.
