WINDHOEK – After a long absence from competitive football, Namibia’s Young Warriors will tomorrow travel to Maputo to face Mozambique in the 1st leg of the 2015 CAF African Youth Championship qualifiers preliminary round.
The team has been in camp for the past three weeks under the mentorship of Namibia Football Association (NFA) Technical Director Klaus Staerk and his assistant James Britz.
The two teams will clash on Saturday in Maputo and the 2nd leg takes place in Windhoek at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on April 26. The Namibian team boasts some exciting players such as Uaseuako Katjiukua, who won the 2013 Namibian Newspaper Cup with Otjozondjupa last year and now plies his trade with Premier League side Rundu Chiefs, while another Otjozondjupa player Glenn Kamutjete of Life Fighters FC also made the team.
Esko Kavela, who starred for the Oshana Region in the 2012 Namibian Newspaper Cup and now plays Premiership football with Eleven Arrows also received a call-up, while the lanky Wendell Rudath of Kaizen Football Academy (KFA) with the Mohawk hairstyle also joined the mix. The winner between Namibia and Mozambique will take on Zambia in the first round of the qualifiers.
