WINDHOEK – Gideon ‘The Amphibian Namibian’ Nasilowski is at it again, he is leaving the country for Durban to compete in the South African senior nationals, the biggest annual swimming championships in South Africa, this coming Sunday.
The championships will host big names like Chad Le Cloe and Micheal Schoeman, amongst other big names. The competition combines Paralympic sport and able-body sport into one big sporting spectacle, leaving no room for discrimination whatsoever.
‘The Namibian Amphibian’ says he is fit and ready to perform and added that he is always passionate to represent Namibian Paralympic swimming at the highest level. He also added that one of his ultimate aims is to qualify for the major championships taking place later this year in the United States.
It is imperative for him to qualify and compete at these major events and keep performing well to keep his dream alive of going to the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016. “I am confident and ready. I have prepared well and feel that I’m in the best shape of my life. It’s important to achieve my goals at these competitions, since I also have to make my sponsors happy. I would like to use this opportunity to thank my main Sponsors, Future Energy, Fruit and Veg City and also my manager and agent Quinton Steele-Botes who is a go-getter who never quits.
“But most importantly, I have to say thank you very much to Penandino Kandjii, the Secretary-General of the Namibia Paralympic Committee, she is indeed a valuable asset for the Namibian sport fraternity,” added Nasilowski. “I would like to dedicate my participation to our Prime Minister Dr Hage Geingob, who I believe is a great leader, a man who appreciates sport and I dream of the day I can honour him with a Gold medal at the Paralympic Games.”
