By Frederick Philander WINDHOEK Both Houses of the Third Parliament of Namibia go into session today and next Monday respectively, it has been announced in a press statement. The National Assembly will be officially opened today at 14h00 by President Hifikepunye Pohamba, whose opening speech will be broadcast live on the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation’s (NBC) television. The official opening of the National Assembly is to be preceded by a military guard of honour. Learners from different schools will line the main entrance to Parliament buildings. A Parliamentary procession will formally meet the President and the First Lady, who will then be led into the chambers by the Sergeant-At-Arms. Among the dignitaries expected at the event are judges from the High Court, apart from ordinary Namibians. The National Council is to officially start its work next week, during which time the Children’s Status Bill and State Owned Enterprises Bill will be reviewed.
