By Kae Matundu-Tjiparuro WINDHOEK A jamboree like none other is in store for music lovers this weekend when the country’s premier entertainment joint, the Kapps Farm Hotel, hosts one of Namibia’s foremost musical group in the oviritje genre, Ongoronomundu, on Saturday. The joint, situated about 20 kilometres outside Windhoek on the road to the Hosea Kutako International Airport, will see the musical piece dishing out a starter to their as yet to be released album to raise funds for the release of the CD later this year by introducing some of the tunes on the recording. The event promises a family outing starting at two o’clock in the afternoon to allow fans and music lovers to have a cookout before the main act at 19h00. In this regard people can take along something to braai (barbecue), whiling away the time and simultaneously adoring the joint and its outdoor farming surroundings for those who have not been there. The group’s first DVD will be shown on the big screen as part of the N$30-00 entrance package. A cash bar facility is available and no drinks from outside shall be allowed. Rooms are available at a price for those who would wish to rest and avoid the risk of driving after a whole night’s Ongoronomundu, named after Windoek’s colonial trademark statue of a rider on the horseback in the city centre, first tasted the public limelight when their video, Ngutukiro, was shown on NBC-TV prior to the country’s 15th independence anniversary last year. They followed this with a live performance at the main celebrations at the Independence Stadium, a feat they repeated this year. And since they have never looked back. The owner of Kapps Farm Hotel, Tjiuma Kamuruao, made the weekend’s performance by the group possible as an affirmative act to help the group with its new album.
