Eichhoff, aged 31, who also reportedly buried Slinger and his dogs named ‘Sorry’, ‘Meme’, and ‘Meisie’ in an aardvark burrow, was last year refused bail after the prosecution presented evidence indicating that Eichhoff was a flight risk and could escape from the country if released on bail.

Windhoek-based lawyer Willem Visser represented Eichhoff during his failed bail bid.
Farm Vergenoeg, the scene of the crime belongs to Peter Eichhoff the father of the accused and is situated about 85 kilometres from Hochfeld in the Otjozondjupa Region.
