WINDHOEK- Suspended National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW) acting Secretary General (SG) Alfred Angula faces yet another fraud case after a separate case involving N$75 444 was opened against him.

The fraud charge under CR791/01/2014 was opened against him by the Namibia Farm Workers Union (Nafwu) at the Katutura Police Station on Wednesday. The union alleges  that Angula unlawfully withdrew N$75 444 from a Bank Windhoek account belonging to Nafwu during December 2013. Angula is currently on bail of N$50 000 for allegedly defrauding  Nafwu of N$1.2 million. He was arrested on October 16 last year  after international donor agency Fes Belgium laid charges against him over money it had donated to the union.

He was granted bail on condition that he does not interfere with police investigations or with witnesses. Angula is allegedly still in possession of Nafwu property, which includes a resettlement farm in the Outjo district,  which he refuses to return to the union. Angula was unavailable for comment the past two days. When approached for comment yesterday NUNW president Connie Pandeni denied any knowledge of the case. “My office has not been informed yet, maybe they will inform me later,” said Pandeni. Nafwu acting Secretary General Rocco Ngavauva said he has approached the union’s lawyers and they are considering to sue the bank as well. “The bank should have contacted us before they could allow something like that to happen,” he said.
