To champion responsible behaviour, beverage maker AB InBev Namibia has partnered with inDriver, the global IT and transportation platform, to contribute to road safety.
Together, the companies piloted the ‘Think Before You Drive’ Campaign to encourage Namibians to not drink and drive after a night out but rather to take an inDriver home.
The first campaign event took place last Friday and Saturday at the popular Brewer’s Market in Windhoek.
The promotion ran on 27 and 28 May 2022 from the Brewer’s Market.
On each of the days, the first 300 consumers were well informed about the dangers of drinking and driving and were sensitised on alternative ways how to get home safe after a night out.
At Brewer’s Market, the team executed material for the general public and had their activation sharing insightful tips on how to act responsibly and encourage their fellow family and friends.
Alexanderie Basson, Legal and Corporate Affairs Manager for AB InBev Namibia, noted: “It is our belief that one should never drive after drinking, not even one beer. We want every experience with our beers to be a positive one, and that includes ensuring our consumers get home safely and not putting anyone in danger. A partnership with inDriver was top of mind in achieving this and the decision to host the initiative at a venue like Brewer’s Market, was imperative for us to ensure that our campaign would have a direct impact and consumers would not drink and drive”.
Vincent Lilane, Business Development Representative, Africa] inDriver, stated: “Regardless of the market we operate in, inDriver always puts people first. Whether it is our flexible business model, where the driver and the passenger have the freedom to negotiate trip fare independently of algorithms, or our social initiatives and commitments, we always strive to contribute to improving the communities we work in. Our participation in the project with AB InBev Namibia resonates very much with our aspiration to improve road safety”.
“Both inDriver and AB InBev Namibia worked with Brewer’s Market to encourage consumers to think before they drive by leaving their cars at home and taking an inDriver home rather this weekend to avoid drinking and driving. It is very simple, if you drink, don’t drive. There are so many alternatives like taking an inDriver home to ensure you reach home safely. This is the start of a bigger campaign to drive behavioural change amongst Namibians to always act responsibly,” said Basson.
